My Valentine...

Never had I thought, happiness can be caught!
Baby, Just your thought turns my day's highlight!

When you enter my mind, my body feels it blind,
Baby, you know I treasure the time we spend!

It is no less hell when you keep me aside
Tears roll down like a dam unwind!

It's been a pleasure and pain, at times
But honey, you are my home, and heavens!

Don't break this bond, baby, till the very end,
Just a little fondle, every quarrel we can handle!

'Animal,' The Positive Review

After going through several negative reviews which in my view miss the point in their criticism, I intended to present my own positive view about the movie, ‘Animal.’

The new age filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga who has a panache for unabashedly presenting extreme ideas of toxic masculinity on the screen has been a target for criticism from his earlier movie Arjun Reddy, and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh.

I presume, because of such criticism, Vanga went on to make a return attack with his next film, by boldly naming it ‘Animal.’ And, this time, he might have thought the title itself would answer all the critics, as he would have free reign to portray the alpha male toxic masculinity without holding any bars, as he pleased.

But, the critics once again were not impressed. And I think the devil is in the marketing. Whether it was Sandeep’s idea from the beginning, or the producer’s or marketing team’s idea, the film was presented as a ‘toxic’ love story between father and son. While the screenplay tries very hard to show the same, it doesn’t make wholesome sense in the end.

And, the critics once again had a field day morally correcting the lead character at every point. Why should he say those lines? Why should he have an extra-marital affair? Why should he justify it like that? Etc. But, why shouldn’t he? Why can’t he be a morally degraded alpha male when he has all the might he has? Who said that he is an ‘ideal’ character to be followed? Once again, the title itself says ‘Animal.’ He is not to be followed if you want to be human, as simple as that. Why can’t you see the movie as a wake-up call to such people who do exist in society, but maybe not to that extravagant extent (but probably to a more conniving and dangerous extent) Don’t you know the story of a powerful politician’s son mowing down farmers with his vehicle in a barbarous manner only some time ago? Where do you think he is now? He is out there doing whatever else he can. There are such stories of powerful ‘animalistic’ sons doing whatever they can under the insane powers of their fathers. Why can’t you see the movie from that angle?

I guess, the answer would be that he was presented in such a nice ‘heroic’ manner in most of the things, and that people would get influenced by him. But, that’s how people are in the real world. They look nice with a mask doing all the good things in the face, keeping their animalistic nature for the right occasions and people they want to show it to. It’s just portrayal of such a deranged powerful person. You can say that without anger, or without questioning the director.

While I do agree that the protagonist’s actions always influence the ‘illiterate audience,’ I don’t think you can question the filmmaker’s right to do what he wants to show. While I am not sure whether what I said in the earlier paragraph was his intention, that's how I looked at it. And, I believe, the critics could have chosen a similar path to review it as a story of a corrupt ‘Animal’ of a person, instead of questioning the filmmaker for every ‘unfair’ or ‘unpleasant’ detail. Look outside. The world is becoming more ‘unfair’ every day. If you want to question, question the powers behind it in the real world. Don’t waste your anger on a ‘fantasy.’

Which News Source Can I Trust?

With the increase of news sources these days, one might have imagined that it would get easier to get unbiased news. But unfortunately, it’s a bit complex than that, since most of these organizations or rather ‘companies’ are ‘profit-oriented’ than ‘journalism-oriented.’

I have — consciously at times and unconsciously some times — developed a method to eliminate most of these superficial news articles or organizations. I thought listing those ideas. So, here we go.

 Luring/Tempting Headings:

This is a prevalent disorder right now. I despise these the most and often refuse to click the headings even if it interests me. It breaking one of the basic rules of journalism and entering the space of drama/entertainment. The basic rule of journalism is to make the reader/viewer learn the news quickly. Almost all news articles do that these days with impunity, not letting the reader/viewer know the important thing that has happened as soon as he or she reads/listens to the heading.

This would make the reader/listener wait and stay on the article or program for it and read/listen through, they think. But, you are irritating/frustrating them. Where is the quickest delivery of news in these accelerating times? If you want to actually garner the attention of the reader/viewer and long-term readership/viewership, just do away with this nonsense, and tell it quick.

 Owning Mistakes/Lies:

Even this is a widespread virus, among the mainstream news media from before these Covid times. Unfortunately, as an individual growing in our country, we are prone to a form of loyalty that is not only immoral but which often affects us badly. We keep the mistakes or lies that the people whom we think of as our own do. And it will go away and won’t result in anything bad, we think. But, what happens if you don’t repair a small leak? It would become a big drain. And this is where our country is in, in more than one way, draining out people through the big holes that we allowed to spread.

In news or people politics, persons or organizations that don’t own up to a clear mistake or lie shouldn’t be trusted. Once again, you may not often get what’s the truth and what’s the lie unless you develop your ‘unbiased’ trusted news source. Like the guy in the movie ‘Momento,’ you should cross mark the person or organization that gets caught with even one lie/mistake and refuses to make amends.

 Objective Reporting:

Unfortunately, at this point in India, all the journalism-related viruses are widely spread. Hence, even this one. Instead of going to the roots and reporting from the ground, the ‘Tu tu main main (You, you, me, me)’ of politics has infected the news media, especially the TV news media. We have to agree to the fact that our innate curiosity to stand and watch something like the drama of a roadside quarrel and any pinheaded rebel lead to this. But alas, the questioning changed direction as the quarrels became cheaper and cheaper.

But, the point is a news organization that takes no effort to reach the place and put ‘valid’ or at least 'decent' questions, pre-judging the situation is no channel to trust.

 Taking A Side:

If I plainly ask if a good journalist should take a side? Some of you may say no. That is correct to an extent, to the extent of listening to both sides of the argument and checking the specific facts and responsibilities with our bias. But, after that, if the facts don’t add up and the responsibility gets overtaken by rhetoric, that side has to be questioned. What happened in that other issue, at that time in the past? Where were you then? These are pointless tactics to divert the issue when one can’t defend their own argument.

These are also the times of social and independent media. But, even these same rules apply. Twitter is the quickest source, but only if you can browse through the non-sense. My most trusted ones are these (judge them after filtering your own ‘immoral’ bias): The News Minute, NewsLaundry, The Caravan & The Wire.

Love & Light

Love is like Light in many ways. It is the Light that brightens your Life.

Love is light, as in it is delicate, sensitive, but also warm.

You can’t exactly see or catch either of them but can feel their presence, one with your eyes, the other with your mind.

The sense of vision is very primal. So maybe it's easier to find light than love. Love is hard to find, of course, even otherwise, lol!

We got an unlimited supply of light from the Sun, but we developed our own sources of light as well. If you can observe, nature also gave us unlimited sources of love in terms of sustenance and survival, but more importantly as an experience, actually, the experience. But, our own sources of love? Well, we each have a source of love inside us and can bring it out, but only if we don't get overwhelmed by fear, greed, or ignorance.

Moving on, Love is like the light in even more ways.

Like we found a spectrum of light that a human eye can perceive, we can also consider a spectrum of love that we can perceive. Like we can see or focus clearly on the things we want to see when there is enough light, we can focus and see things objectively for what they are when our mind is filled with love (for this experience of life).

Let's delve more into two more properties of light!

We all have read about the dual nature of light, i.e., as particles as well as a wave. Similarly, in love, we have tiny lovely moments, as well as periods of love with the highs and lows (wave ).

And finally, coming to the refraction of light, we know light bends while crossing from one medium to another. But what can be the bending of love?  What imaginary mediums can Love travel in? Well, Like many physical materials which allow light through (with little refraction/bending), or block it, or diminish it, there will be similar imaginary mediums of clutter for love in our minds. But light travels nice and straight in a transparent medium, and so does love. A transparent mind is the best medium for love. But when it gets filled with clutters of bias, hypocrisy, arrogance, or hate, love bends (becomes skewed) or diminishes.

Like optics manipulate light to change the size of objects, optics of clutter can manipulate love and change the importance of things.

So, try to keep your mind as transparent, i.e., honest and away from bias, hypocrisy, arrogance, and more importantly, hate, the solid that stops the light of love.

Happy Lightening!

Are you living or dying?

One indisputable fact is that you are dying, may not be today, tomorrow, or the next year, but eventually.

Your days on earth are numbered. That's how it is. That's how much time you have to live while slowly reaching your death, or simply while dying slow.

But are you living? While there is still time to die?

What is living? What counts as living?

Technically, the many days from your birth to death, maybe.

But, you know that that is not it, that is not it at all.

Then what else? What else is living?

How about the moments that you actually felt alive, happy, or excited for experiencing something, simple or grand?

What can that experience be called?

What do you call it? Joy? Pleasure? Excitement? Or many synonyms there and forth?

How about the word, Freedom?

In those moments, can you say you were free from all your fears, insecurities, and responsibilities culminating into that experience?

If so, what if your life can totally be that experience? That is free from all your fears, insecurities, and responsibilities? Can that be called living?

How to achieve that? How to get rid of all the negativities that gobble up your mind and achieve that freedom that can make your life an actual ‘living experience’?

It's simple, but hard at the same time, especially in the backdrop of the society and patriarchal traditions that we have inherited!

Unfortunately, freedom is the last thing that our societal system has been offering! The freedom of a person has often been curtailed by responsibility insisted by others. It can be parents, husband, family, or society at large. It is evident in many aspects of, which has been our common way of life, like marriage or staying single, having children, education, career, and even death ceremonies.

When you try to free yourself and break those chains to achieve freedom, it is going to be a battle, and there will be wounds, either physical or emotional. You need a parallel sphere or circle that can help you from depression or anxieties on your way to freedom.

The other aspect of this journey to freedom is related to your career and financial health.

In any battle, financial health is as important as mental strength. You have to develop skills that make you unique and creative in any field of your choice. Your passion for the field can be the driver.

If you can stand on your own feet, then it makes it that much easier to find your strength in your journey to freedom!

Good luck and bon voyage!

Find your feet and freedom.

Live it while you still have time before

dying!

A balanced Proposal to get rid of Mankad-ing (or Ash-ing now!?)

The cricket world once again caught unaware with another unscrutinised rule from the game's rule book. While most of the game's oldies sang the sympathy song for the non-striking batsman, who caught off-guard, some sane opinions were seen as well.

The argument of these veteran singers varies from 'outside the spirit of the game' to 'Ash not coming to bowling stride and waiting for Buttler to go out.' Some pandits did point out that the rule is ambiguous when it says that, the non-striker leaving the crease can be ran-out, if he leaves the crease by the time, the bowler delivers (apparently, its not by the time he gets into bowling stride, as it used to be).

One can only have a subjective imagination on whether Buttler was out of crease at the exact time when Ash would be delivering. But, thats not the point that the rule makes.  It says, the bowler can attempt to run out, which means, there is no real validity for the batsman being inside or outside the crease at that exact point of release.
While Buttler caught off guard on this occasion, all of us, the cricket family, world wide, have been off guard about one thing, all the time: the runs that were attributed to quick or brilliant running, after a non-striking batsman takes an early start. A batsman, while being on the non-striking end, has only one responsibility: to be inside the crease until a bowler bowls. Taking an early start, is his own choice against the rule that asks him to be inside.

For long, while the umpire standing behind is guarding the line, only to his left, the non-striking batsmen have been taking unfair advantage and never it had been seriously scrutinised for being 'outside the spirit of the game.' While, the overstepping of the bowler comes under scrutiny every ball, the non-striking batsmen go scot free.

Only few times, few bowlers dared to take advantage of the rule, and they were mostly ascribed with this 'being unfair' jibe. But, the unfairness comes from the rule. While the bowler overstepping had the penalty of a run and an extra ball, [which became a free-hit, later in shorter formats], taking off early would get a batsman out, potentially every time, which can be termed unfair. Earlier, there used to be a warning given to such non-striking batsman, but it was stricken off later.

Now, a balanced rule could be a penalty for such early start by a non-striking batsman, which also needs to be checked for every ball along with the bowler's foot [some part of the batsman or his bat being behind the line just like the bowler's foot at the exact time the bowler releases the ball]. A penalty of 5 or fewer runs for such early start could be the balancing act that can address the issue, putting a permanent end to the ever controversial manked-ing or the current ash-ing of the non-striker.

It has been us all along…

It has been humans all along…

Some created good things, some created bad, but once life came to earth, it has been humans all along..

Everyone created their own god, and prayed for happiness, but it has been humans all along..

Some declared themselves as leaders and godlymen, some really believed it, and again made some good deeds and some bad, but it has been humans all along..

Many gods came, many gods went, but they have been human all along..

Many inventions happened, some good, some bad, but it has been humans all along..

There has been development, and some devastation, but it has been us all along..

Writer's Window

Finishing with the early morning routine, he sits in the unfolded chair by the window, facing South, to write this write-up for the assignment. Sitting beside the window in the late morning hours, has been his practice to kick in the writer inside him, and put out his thoughts into writing. The chair with thick-clothed red and blue strips and long hands that hold a wooden pad, is at an angle to the edge of the window, letting him leisurely place both his hairy legs on the edge, crossed. The window is fully covered with an iron mesh with squares and rectangles between its fine metal bars. Outside the iron mesh are two horizontally-sliding glass panes, which would let you open only half of the window space, at any time. But, there is no scenic view outside the window except for a clump of buildings of all sizes and some miscellaneous trees.

The writer’s pent house with a single lengthy room is placed on the third floor of a building beside an unoccupied forest-like land. The elevation and the absence of any tall buildings surrounding it, allows a chilly fresh air to flow in and out of the room, keeping a pristine aroma, unless all the windows are closed. Adding to the almost virgin-isque uncontaminated environment are the chirping birds that somehow take their own time throughout the day, to let their voice heard along with the distant horn sounds from the main road.

The black and white wallpaper on his compact MacBook, placed on the wooden pad says, “don’t pray or prey; think, do, love and live,’ a small sample of his creative work that he always felt proud of writing, no matter how others felt about it. It struck to him few days back that he left out mentioning one of his passionate things about life in there: eating. As he smoothly touches the delicate keys of the Mac with his fingers to put the description of his own environment into words, the December sun reaches midway sending in his rays into the writer’s window. He shakes his crossed legs whenever he is in mood and has a writing flow that engrosses his mind. The legs stop shaking when he hits a roadblock, and they start moving again, after a while. He moves his left hand below the chair to gather the pale yellow water-bottle, rotates its lid off and takes a sip of the world-renowned flavourless drink, before going back to his writer’s window, which he knows would be soon closing.

You Vs Nation

A nation is its people, each one of them. In the name of nationalism, if you try to hit, heckle or hate someone just for not standing up for the national anthem, you are no more nationalist that him/her. There are better options to make your case before him or her, if you are really interested in showing the nationalistic spirit. But, even before that, make sure that it is the national spirit towards each person of the country that is driving you, and not just the mere symbolism.

A Nation is for people, everyone of them, who is an end to oneself (as Ayn Rand calls it). It is a system that is supposed to make each of our lives better with vital freedoms to be and become whatever we want to, and live however we want to, for the time we have on this planet. But, we are being drawn towards trivial symbolisms in the name of nationalism, while dark clouds are looming over all kinds of freedoms. It's a time of reckoning, and it always has been, I guess.

Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.

Misplaced, Misunderstood...

Beyond the cold gloomy winter nights,

Along the hot and humid summer days,

Through the Soggy pouring downs,

I hoped to walk towards the Spring.

Among the cries for help and survival,

Amid the blind acceptance of social practices,

Witnessing the reluctance towards love and sharing,

I stand, misplaced, misunderstood.

With an optimism that's seldom been this scarce,

But, with an ever conscious ego that never wants to give up,

Drawing strength from places and people afar,

I walk, lazily but steadily, in search of love and destiny, misplaced, and misunderstood.

Take the reigns of your Life!

Don’t let any other decide what you have to do in your life, and don’t decide it for others yourself.

Why are we on earth for if not to make this one chance count by doing whatever comes to your mind as worthy of doing. After all, this is the only chance you get to live. Now, traditionally, the conditions around us were not ideal for such things as our conservative society has certain apprehensions on what, when, how and where we should do things that are important part of the life for each one of us. But, the important detail that has missed there was and still is the ‘why’ part.

Now, the ‘why’ part has been dodged or even kept untouchable for centuries. all this time, It has been deemed as disrespectful to ask ‘why,’ especially to ask elders, who unfortunately couldn’t see that the progress of human brain, intelligence is irrevocably attached to that question, ‘Why’. So, they kept dodging it and kept punishing the knowledge seekers in one or the other, even though the latter had found a way through all the muck of blind premonitions and made the world, what it is now, a global technological village with end to end communication in seconds.

Not everything is about technology though, after all it is merely there to better the pleasure of living. So, it is crucial for every human being to understand that living is meant to be pleasurable and one should thrive for it in any and every possible righteous way. And for that you need to ‘why’ yourself as many times as you can. One should also remember that in doing so, he/she should not intently make it painful for others, not for their sakes, but absolutely for your own. But, to really live it large, It is imperative that you take the reigns of your only life and not leave them with others at any stage of it.

But, most of the time, what we do is the opposite of that, we heavily depend on others to make decisions of our own, and we heavily indulge in decisions that are to be taken by others. Yes, we do have our parents and elders making decisions for us while growing up, which unfortunately continues too far. Parenting is not about making decisions for your child, it is about making him/her learn to take them for themselves as they grow into a man/woman. But, keeping on making them even after the young ones come of age makes things complicated for every one.

It doesn’t matter how close or far you are with that other person, you can’t be him or her, and you can never have a common brain. So, an ideal relationship - even more so if it is that of love - is that one, where one never infiltrate into that territory of the other, where the decision to be taken is about the other’s life.

Yes, it is true that you can’t make all the decisions right, no one can. But, it is your life and you have the soul responsibility towards it. You can take as many advices, but you and only you make that final decision and you have the right to defy every existing premonition if you rightly feel so. And don’t forget, every incredible invention has a long line of defiers, who had persistently believed in their own brains and made their own decisions. And of course, not every one needs to invent some great thing, but every one must and should invent his/her own way of living, living with pleasure.

God is irrelevant

Don’t pray; Just think, do, love and live…

Whats the first word we utter when some one runs across our bike or car and we apply a sudden brake and successfully evade an accident? Thank god, good god or Thank heavens or some other similar versions in our own languages, and that is universal. Of course, it is an instinctive phrase and used as so by some. But, most of us do think we mean it and it was practiced as such for thousands of years, since the man’s creation of God.

The brakes we applied, the vehicle we are driving, the roads, and if I may go a little further, each and everything that is on you hasn’t come from god, but from human intelligence. Every luxury you are taking pleasure in, each and every utility you are daily using has come from our own wisdom.

taken from

Centuries of human brilliance, which had started defying the existing rules of blind faith, had often ended in tragedy for the real thinkers, the scientists. The fight between faith and science had always ended in tragedy. And it is an undeniable fact that we are here today, and not in jungles, because of science, but not blind faith. Many early scientists and philosophers gave their lives following what their minds told, paving a way forward for their destroyers.

I do come to the point, where god, or the creation comes into the picture even in the example i gave. The friction between the road (or earth) and the vehicle, or the earth itself, the atmosphere, the rains and all the creation that's there for the man had come or still comes from a god, they say. Whether it is a god, a supernatural force or the nature itself, who or which has created the world and us, the god, we, humans have created, and prayed and are still praying can be safely distanced from that, because we know that, with such prayers, we are reaching nowhere but only to our mind, or to a neighboring person, if you let them out. Now, he/she can surely help you, but not the blindness that you are praying to.

When science is moving ahead finding answers for everything that has been a mystery and declared to stay as one by the mystics of blind faith, we are long behind the times, still praying to wrong gods and cursing each other. Just remember before the next time you even think of praying for a divine intervention that you are insulting centuries of human intelligence, human spirit that put you here, that you are insulting your own kind, your brain. You are insulting yourself!

Enough of sentiments being hurt, what about Scientific Temper?

One of the many videos that is in circulation on social media of a religious ceremony, epitomizes the still existing blind faith. Even though, the particular video only exposes one instance, there are many examples of such stage magic across religions in our country. Movies like 'Oh My God' or 'PK' can only come and go. Why? And How?

First of all, this circulation, which is producing lot of laughs, also shows some sort of hypocrisy that has been induced into each one of us. While mocking such stage dramas, which are merely showing, what most of us hope for and ask for in many of our daily prayers. While we are mocking the guy on stage, we are also mocking ourselves.

We bear and laugh off such acts, but the slightest hint of serious questioning of the blind faith gets the raw treatment, first from the fringe groups, who create some sort of ruckus that will be backed up by softies, who say that it is hurting the sentiments of believers. Irrespective of the party in power, There have been instances, where books, movies, images or even cartoons, which ridicule the blind faith, faced the brunt of a ban by the state. Even as i write this, some country bombs were thrown by a fringe group on a TV channel office for conducting a discussion show on 'MangalSutra.'

So then, what about the sentiments of the rationalists, atheists or even agnostics, who get hurt every time, when their faith to reason and logic gets quashed by the blind, nonsensical rhetorics? How long should, only they have to tolerate this apathy with no such tolerance coming from the other side.

With the number of recent bans making it clear, where even the fresh government — which came to power on the plank of development, by the way — stands, it seems the development of scientific temperament and reason that the constitution asks of its citizens is at stake. Unfortunately, the governments and political establishments at large are just happy to keep the people there in the dark.

Minding the Mindset

The people who are feeling that Nirbhaya was insulted by the documentary must be actually feeling insulted for themselves and are reluctant to accept that such kind of mindset is not uncommon in our over-glorified country. This whole episode of outrage over the making of the documentary — even before watching it — itself proves that those, who want this documentary off the lime light are wrong, as it has clearly brought back the issue into the public debate actually. Can any one deny that?

There are two separate things that are being questioned now: one is the need to interview criminals behind bars, which has so much to do with the mindsets of people in our country - especially in cases like Nirabhaya - which has to be checked; and the second is on whether the documentary can effectively convey the message for the betterment of our society or not, for which one has to see it first.

Now, the only criticism that can be attributed to the media that has aired part of the interview or at least tried to do so yesterday, is the usual sensationalization that can be found in everyday news. It did piss me off when they were putting each ugly remark that the culprit had made as a headline one after the other. But, I think our anger against the media or the foreign film maker is either misplaced or is a sign of our insecurity, as a society.

What can one say, when our Union Home Minister, seconds after telling that he was hurt watching those comments made by the culprit, questions the need to make such a documentary that has compelled him to make a statement in the Rajya Sabha on the issue in one way or the other. Some of our honorable intellectual members of 'House of elders' also took the same route, with few acknowledging the need for change of mindset.

And for those, who say and believe that the documentary is defaming us as it is only one rapist's mindset that can't be generalized, the documentary also includes the interviews of culprit's lawyers, who are as defying as the culprit in saying that the victim should be on road at that time and that she should have pleaded him for mercy or whatever. And above all, we have our own parliamentarians and leaders, who make almost similar comments frequently. Do we need more proof than that?

The government has just acted like a traditional Indian family, which wants to keep the secrets inside, regardless of how worse the situation is for half of the people in it.

Anyway, as most of us will gradually start paying lesser and lesser attention to the issue, hell with it, lets just block and ban everything that tries to make us think, and lets live in ignorance…

Cultivation of another kind…

Leaked internal mails allegedly reveal favors by Corporate groups to people in places of power

Another whistle was blown on Friday, just a day before Union budget gets placed in the parliament and grabs the lime light, revealing several internal mails of a corporate group, ESSAR, which has allegedly engaged in unethical practices of appeasing a number of politicians, bureaucrats and journalists by offering smart phones, jobs to recommended candidates, free rides and even (as small as) top ups.The mails also mention other corporate groups which have mastered the art according to them.

However, all the mainstream channels on Friday were selective in targeting the Union Minister Nithin Gadkari, keeping the corporate entity and the other beneficiaries out of the debate mostly. Almost all the channels spent their air time in questioning the Union Minister Nithin Gadkari's propriety (moral or otherwise) in taking a two night trip with his family to a french cruise ship, which belongs to a subsidiary of ESSAR corporate group, during one of their foreign tours in July, 2013. The Minister's family has also allegedly used the company's chopper for their travel to the yacht.

Mr. Gadkari was reportedly not in any official position at that time in the government or in BJP, but his influence over his party Chief Ministers at that time and his current portfolio as a Union Minister, are well with in the bounds of taking important decisions, which might have or may favor the ESSAR group. But the "quid pro quo" is not established by any party just yet. On the other side, Mr. Gadkari and his defenders inside and outside BJP say that he had only visited a friend during his personal tour with his family and that it doesn't amount to propriety. But, none of these people were asked what they think about the corporate groups internal mails in which company officials discuss about cultivating influential personalities, which clearly shows their intentions. Some mails also seem to have mentioned similar practices by other big corporates like Reliance and Airtel.

Some other conspicuous issues that came out of the mails are the proposals to offer smart phones and job opportunities to the candidates recommended by these personalities that include prominent politicians like Digvijay Singh, who when approached by media said that they have only recommended eligible candidates and apparently felt nothing wrong in doing so. Hail the impartial partiality of our Netas.

Following the exposes, some of the journalists, who allegedly received cab services among others, have faced the wrath from their managements, which in the case of Hindustan Times seems to have opened more such allegations as per this report. More detailed report about the expose in Indian express can be found here.

Renowned Supreme court lawyer and a crusader of corruption, Prashanth Bhushan has filed people interest litigation on the issue, while the ESSAR group has released a statement saying that leaking of their private mails amounts to theft and that they will take legal steps. They have also stated that some of the mails are 'apparently' fabricated.

Fresh detailed report in NewsLaundry explains how Essar officials have allegedly tried to persuade journalists to alter articles in their favor. The report also mentions some articles which might or might not have influenced by the group. One particular article mentioned among them, about the group's involvement in the 2G scam, was reported by Ashish Khetan, who was with Tehalka then, and is currently a prominent member of Aam Aadmi Party. However, there is no mention of any favors to him in the mails that do mention some other journalists from some prominent media organizations.
